Kelsey and Jared are always on the go! I love watching their trips and adventures on social media. So for the two of them an engagement session hiking around USI and Burdette was a must! Did you know that the American Discovery Trail runs right through the area? Neither did I but they talked about it during the session and you should totally check it out!

How did you two meet? Give us the dirty details! Who, what, when, where, and why?

Well honestly, as much as neither of us likes to admit it, the social networking site "Facebook" was the contributor to dissolving the missing link between Kelsey and me. I had been off backpacking the Appalachian Trail, while she was in school in the hometown we both grew up in. A picture of mine inspired her to make a comment and shortly thereafter, I noticed the beautiful girl making a comment on my profile. We met face to face shortly after. There was some shared history, but that’s about it. I had never met her before, so I was nervous going to her house, as she was nervous answering the door. Upon meeting, conversation flew casually and hours passed by like minutes. I immediately felt comfortable and at home with her. One of the first things we did together was go to the river to watch the sunrise. We talked for hours and connected instantly.

When did you know they were the one? Was there a specific moment or something specific they did?

Jared- I just immediately felt comfortable with her, and she filled those missing pieces of the puzzle I was trying to arrange together in my life at the time. Everything fit between us. Kelsey- I realized Jared was the one when he left my house that first night. After staying up for 5 hours talking and then going and watching the sunrise, I noticed how much of a true gentleman he was. When he smiled at me and we laughed together, I felt so comfortable and at peace. He made me smile so much my cheeks hurt, and we connected instantly. The feeling I had was different than anything I have ever felt before and that's the moment I knew he was the one.

Tell us about the proposal! Did you see it coming? How long were you planning it? How did you feel? Nervous? Excited? Freaking out?!

Jared- Of course I saw it coming, I had thought about it since the day that I had met her. It was in planning for an entire year. I was excited, nervous and freaking out all at the same time. In the end I had a feeling of peace about the whole thing knowing she would say yes, and that feeling of peace that she brought to my life was a major factor in why I wanted her by my side in the first place. Kelsey- I did not see the proposal coming. I was hoping he would do it one day but I didn’t know exactly when. The day he did it, we were camping with my mom and dad. My dad knew Jared was going to do it but my mom didn’t know. My mom and I were sitting around the campfire and I was turned to the right talking to her and all of a sudden I see my mom’s shocked looking face. I turned to the left and Jared was on one knee. My heart immediately started racing and I started to tear up. I will never forget the look on Jared’s face when he asked me, it was the sweetest. Thank goodness I was sitting down because my knee’s started to shake and I couldn’t stand up. Jared bent down and hugged me until I could stand. It was one of the best nights of my life, one I will never forget.

What is one thing you love most about each other?

Jared- I love how we can just sit in a quiet room with no TV, no computers, no cell phones or distractions, and just have a good time together. We can joke, laugh, and be silly. That’s what is important, being able to make each other laugh, and to inspire one another. Kelsey- The one thing I love most about Jared is the way he makes me smile and laugh. He knows exactly how to cheer me up and be there for me. When I’ve had a stressful day, I come home to him and he makes me forget it all. He’s always there for me no matter the situation and I couldn’t ask for anymore.

Jared- She has a tendency to act like a little girl sometimes. It’s extremely cute. All the little tinks your partner has are what makes them uniquely special to you. The things other people will never know about that person because you’re the only one that is and ever will be that close to them. Kelsey- Jared likes to sing sometimes and make funny noises when he is in a goofy mood. It is one of the most adorable things he does. He gets super hyper sometimes and likes to run around the house just doing silly things, like dancing. I absolutely love it and it makes me laugh. I love that he can be open and silly with me.

What are the top three things you like to do as a couple?

1.) Spend time outdoors hiking and being active together. 2.) Snuggling in bed upon waking up in the morning. 3.) Going on new adventures to places we've never been and creating new memories together.
